Leah Berdysz, author of Conscious Empowerment: A Guide to Helping Girls Build Self-Esteem & Confidence, will share insight from her book.

The book illustrates the potential challenges of a one-size-fits-all female empowerment message for girls. It explores the intersection of race, culture, ethnic background, and socioeconomic status on the development of a young girl’s self-esteem and confidence, and provides suggestions on how to tailor an approach that works for the unique individuals in your life.

Leah is on a "mission to empower and educate girls on how to be beautiful from the inside out through discovery of social, mental, and physical components". In May of 2017, Leah graduated summa cum laude from John Carroll University receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science and Entrepreneurship, as well as founded Empowered & Poised LLC.

She is currently working towards her Master of Science in Social Administration (MSW equivalent) with a focus on School Social Work. Leah is extremely passionate about wellness, entrepreneurship, and helping others to become their strongest, healthiest, and happiest selves. She has attained over 10 years of experience working with youth through teaching PE, camp counseling, coaching, volunteering, and caretaking. Additionally, she has a plethora of experience working with different start-ups throughout her years. She is currently working on her first book Conscious Empowerment:
