ABOUT CAROL LESLIE – SCOTTISH JAZZ VOCALIST

Carol Leslie, jazz vocalist, is NE Ohio’s Scottish import from Edinburgh, Scotland. Her media introduction came when, chosen out of 2,500 auditionees, she represented Scotland in the British ITV live talent show, “Rising Stars,” broadcast across Europe and the UK. Her introduction to BBC Radio on “Debut,” was met with acclaim, propelling her to perform in cabaret venues in the UK. For several years, she enjoyed a myriad of extra roles on British SOAPs! Since then, she has also performed in Australia, Norway, Bermuda and the USA, including an on-air interview with Cleveland’s own, Dee Perry of WCPN.

After taking a hiatus from music, she is now back, better than ever, with a new repertoire to pay homage to the music greats: Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Cleo Laine, fellow Scots Annie Ross and Annie Lennox, Diane Schuur, Diana Krall, Lennon & McCartney, Harry Connick Jr, Ray Charles, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Mel Tormé, Roberta Flack and Layla Hathaway. Carol has performed throughout Cleveland at conventions, black tie events, galas, and the jazz restaurant circuit.

Carol has generously offered to share her talents with WIN to assist in fundraising for the Norma Herr Women's Center on November 6th, 2021. She is joined by Rock Wehrmann on piano. Rock has played with famous national and international performers, is a regular at Playhouse Square, and a genius on the keyboard!

ABOUT TEAM NORMA

Team Norma chaired by Pat Schultz, is WIN Cleveland's committee focused on procuring wish list items for Norma Herr Women's Center. Our committee members have an unmatched passion for helping these local women experiencing homeless receive the basic items they need to thrive in dignity as they transition to housing stability.

ABOUT NORMA HERR WOMEN'S CENTER

Over 300 women have exited shelter and achieved housing stability since YWCA assumed management of Norma Herr Women’s Center in 2019 and are engaged and thriving members of our community.

Norma Herr Women’s Center is Cleveland’s only low-barrier emergency shelter for women ages 18-80. The emergency shelter serves an average of 220 women each night.

Each woman at Norma Herr Women’s Center has their own unique aspirations. Guests may be working towards gainful employment, stabilizing their health, or achieving higher levels of education. That is why women at Norma Herr work with YWCA staff to develop non-prescriptive, highly personalized, sustainable housing plans that meet their own goals and fit their individual needs.
