My Why and I: A Rebel’s Guide to a Why-Centered Lifestyle
About our speaker Destiny Burns: Destiny is a Cleveland girl—born and bred. After graduating from Euclid High School in 1982, she enlisted the US Navy as a Russian Linguist to see the world. 20 years later, she retired from the Navy as a Cryptologic Officer, began a second career as a defense industry executive and served her northern Virginia community as a volunteer Firefighter/EMT. Upon turning 50, newly divorced after a 26-year marriage with one adult daughter fully launched, she decided to leave the corporate world after 13 years. She moved back home to Cleveland to open a “craft brewery-style” urban winery in a 1920s-era auto repair garage in her Cleveland Heights neighborhood. Destiny has reinvented herself many times (so far) in her life… her 9th reinvention was as an entrepreneur and owner of CLE Urban Winery—where she’s realized her dream of “Good Wine Made Fun that Celebrates Cleveland and Creates Community, ”celebrating her 10th anniversary in business in July 2026. She embarked on reinvention #10 as an author, coach and speaker with her new book “My Why and I: A Rebel’s Guide to a Why-Centered Lifestyle” published in the December 2023, and #11 as an Adjunct Faculty member teaching at Baldwin Wallace University, teaching Innovation & Entrepreneurship as she reached her 60th birthday in 2024.
